I found this report very telling. The fact that 93% of adults living with chronic diseases still seek medical advice from a medical professional was reassuring. Yet, after viewing the websites Patients Like Me and Health Central, I see the many benefits of staying connected online especially for patients living with two more chronic diseases. In addition to receiving and sharing some valuable information, support from others living with their disease, it is a mechanism for increased social interaction, which I imagine is more lacking for the elderly living with two or more chronic conditions.
