Communication in the 21st Century: Connections, Collaboration, and Social Media
Overall, I found this slide show excellent. I particularly enjoyed reading up on telemedicine, Healthpresence and e-communication. In general, I do agree that "knowledge is power" and by using some of these tools, there will be increased autonomy for patients and hopefully, this will also assist in providing patients in general, with a better sense of control regarding their health care. The websites provided (i.e. myfitnesspal and medpedia.org) were on the whole, excellent resources. However, I find it quite disturbing that more people will search and act upon internet medical information than seeing a physician. Hence, I hesitate to change the role of a physician to "partner" rather than expert/authority. Med-Surg RN
